Producers
Every district must have a source of food which is made by organisms called the Producers. Most producers are green plants like flowering plants, conifers, moss and algae though some are bacteria. Producers are necessary for the district. Without them there would be no living organisms because other organisms such as animals and fungi cannot make their own food to survive. Almost all producers, apart from a few bacteria, make food by Photosynthesis. This is the chemical process that makes places inside cells containing a green pigment called Chlorophyll. Photosynthesis is a difficult process of many chemical reactions but it can be concluded in a word equation which is: OR
Consumers
All organisms that need ready-made sources of food are called Consumers. Even humans cannot produce food without the help of plants. All the food the humans make either comes from plants or animal products. Example: Bread comes from wheat seed. Many animals we eat, are raised on plant foods. Even some animals that are carnivores are part of the chain of other animals that started with plant eaters. All food was originally made by a product.
